This might be a daft question.. a full load of nappies?

This might be a daft question but I am wondering: I will want to wash my reusables quite frequently- every couple of days - to keep smells away and because I haven't got millions. However in my 8kg drum the tiny bucket will not be anywhere near half filling it let alone filling it up.

Does anyone wash nappies in with anything else or do they need to go on their own for hygiene reasons?

thanks!!

When it was milk only nappies, I washed them with muslins, towels, white babygros, bedsheets etc.
After that, I used liners, so if I had just wet nappies, that continued but I did do the odd nappies only wash if there was pooey ones

I do a load every other day (looks like a very small load in my 8kg machine but hey ho), prewash, 60°, extra rinse, tumble dry gently.

i have a 7kg machine

i have 2 nappy buckets and wash every 4 days and it is not even half full!

I was at cotton 60 intensive extra rinse.

the only other things i was with nappies are muslins or for example a white vest that has poo on, and the cotton changing mat liners (which get washed when they get poo on)

I have three nappy buckets and wash when two of them are full, which is about 20 nappies - this is a full load and I do a wash maybe every 4-5 days. They don't smell with a lid on, or I've become immune!

When DD was little I used to put other things in with them - clothes, muslins etc - quite often those things had poo on too anyway Wink - can't remember whether I washed at 60.

Now I follow thenappylady's advice and do a cold rinse followed by a 40 degree wash with a little detergent. There's no need to wash at 60 unless your baby is under 3 months/ill/shares nappies.
