Ok, so I'm thinking I may as well just cut up an old towel rather than shelling out for specially made wipes, but what do you put on them? Just water or do you put something on them to smell nice? And what do you carry them around in when you're out? Presumably you need something to put the dirty ones in as well? Practical tips please!!

Hello :)

I've been using washable wipes for ages. I bought some ready made.

After trying all sorts of things. I've found it easiest to carry the wipes dry and use a spray bottle (available from Boots) filled with plain water to apply moisture to either DD's bum or the wipe.

When dirty I bung the used wipe in a nappy wet bag along with the soiled nappy.

Works for me :)

I'm sure a cut up towel would be fine as one as it didn't fray with repeated washing, I use cheapo faceclothes and bought ones. The bought ones have a scrubby side which really helps with 'challenging' bottom cleaning (you know when they have had anything with seeds etc).

I take them out of the machine, don't even bother to dry them and stick in tupperware box and use squeezy bottle of water.

I hate the disconnect of having a dirty wipe that you can't just shove inside the dirty nappy, seems a bit cleaner to keep it all together.

I use these www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/40054538/
I tried buying some towelling from a fabric shop & cutting it up but it frayed badly.

I use the ikea cheap multi pack kids' flannels too. When I'm out I just take a plastic bag with me to put dirty (washable) nappies and flannels in. I only use water to wash unless it's a poo in which case I use something soap free.

I use Cheeky Wipes, but you could treat cut up towel or whatever the same:

Small amount of water in the bottom of a locking tupperware box, few drops of essential oil. Add wipes and close. Viola, damp and ready to use for every change.

To go out, I just use a few of the pre-prepped wipes in a smaller box, or waterproof zip bag.

I have a little spray bottle with water. I spray direct to bum. 2 DDs and both have laughed when I do it.

we cut up a fleece blanket and dampened them with olive oil and a few drops of lavender and tea tree oil, kept in a tupperware box.
i miss that smell!

I use camomile tea or plain water with 1 tsp baby oil, 1 tsp baby bath lotion and a few drops of lavender oil to soak my wipes.
