Six month old screams and whines all day

My DD has been such an easy baby, no real issues till now, she's never cried much and always very happy and smiley. However at six months, she started changing and whines a lot, it's not a cry exactly just a long scream that goes o and on, I don't know what to do! If I pick her up sometimes she still carries on screaming though that usually helps. I'm not sure it's teething or frustration about trying to crawl, but I just have no clue how to make things better for her. Has anyone had a similiar experience and what did you do, pick up even if it makes no difference or just put the whining down to frustration.
i don't like to hear her moan, but then maybe if she is trying to learn to move, then she needs the practise rather than being picked up?DD seems much happier when we are out and about going places and meeting people, yet, I think we do need at least some downtime at home. Help!

what do her gums look like? have you tried rubbing some teething gel onto her gums to see if it makes a difference?

At six months, if I'd ruled out obvious reasons for crying like a wet nappy, hunger etc, I'd assume it's teething and would administer painkillers. If that doesn't help then maybe see your GP for reassurance.

I think teething could be it too. Babies' teeth can move in their gums causing discomfort even if there's no visible sign. I'd try giving calpol and see if if helps.

Another possibility is she might be getting into the 'seperation anxiety' stage and want to be with you. At about that age my dd had to be carried, put in a sling or sat on my lap or she wasn't happy. She's now 9mo and it's a lot better. Remember, this too will pass!

Mine has this too! It comes and goes but when it comes I'm at her little gums with the teething gel and putting calpol in her three times a day to ward off the grizzling. The constant grizzling.... I swear she must be exhausted too.

Lots of going out, swimming and long walks to keep her mind elsewhere. Also lots of sling time if she's up for it. If you mei tai, you can pop her on your back and see if you LO will have a nap.

Hope that helps, you're not alone.

Mine dd2 loves her activity centre which she stands in but can turn around. I think she feels like she us walking but is really resting and has plenty to keep her busy

My first thought was teething. My second was frustration at not being able to move.

I'd try teething gel, paracetamol and/or ibuprofen, and if it doesn't help then wait it out until she learns to crawl Grin
