Baby is 6 wks old, DD is almost 3... since being on maternity leave I've taken her out of nursery to save money, but finding it difficult to keep her entertained as well as looking after the baby.

She's very good with him and very understanding that he takes up a lot of my time, but she's always asking 'can you play with me now yet mummy?'. Ive tried doing lots of acitivities for her, painting, drawing, puzzles etc... but she flits from one to the next so quickly.

All the SAHMs - do you have set days where you do set things? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

thanks

When mine where that age I had some sort of activity every day otherwise I would have gone mad Grin
I had a couple of mother and baby groups I went to, a music group, and the library rhymetime group. Then most weeks there would be a meet-up with other Mums for coffee or the park etc. If I didn't have something specific on, I would always try and go for a walk.
Check the local library or churches/village halls etc often have some sort of toddler group.
If your DD is almost 3 she might be ready for some sort of pre-school for a couple of sessions a week. That helps to keep her occupied and improve her social skills whilst giving you time to do the shopping interact with your new baby.

Hi miamama, have a 2 year old DD and due to have new baby couple of months and have been thinking about this too. 2 year old has been in nursery as went back to work full time after first maternity leave but am now going to be a SAHM. Have decided to keep 2 year old in nursery for 2 days a week to give me a break/spend time with new born. And because I am sure I won't be able to come up with activities every single day for her! But planning on getting out and about most days whether lunch at friends, baby groups etc.

you do ideally want the toddler occupied elsewhere for at least a couple of mornings and then organise activities out of the house. when the baby is young enough to be sleeping a lot make the most of that time to actively play with the toddler so that when you are feeding she can do the independent stuff but it is difficult. Too often DS is just mooching about the living room.
