I have a 9m DD

Went to bed and woke up feeling grim today.

Any tips for survival?

Depends how grim, really. If it's a heavy cold then I find a combination of painkillers, lots of fluids and as much rest as I can manage helps a lot. More serious than that, or if it doesn't get better quickly, you should see the GP. Luckily a 9m baby still has lots of naps.... try to catch up on some sleep or flop on the sofa when they do. Rest of the time break all the rules, ignore housework and do whatever you can to make it round to bedtime. If you have friends or relatives willing to take her off your hands for a few hours, accept. If you have a partner, get them to take some time off.

I've had a horrid cold and LO had had infections this week so we both veged in pjs all day and did pretty much nothing! Also one day I was really bad and had ha literally no sleep the night before due to headaches my DP took the day off so I could sleep. oh and the days he did work I was packed off to bed as soon as he got in.

A 9 month old will still have 2 naps won't they? Id get my head down then, the rest of the Time I'd soldier on

CBeebies.

ASDA (stick in a trolley and push round gently so they're stimulated while you can zone out)

Joint naps.

Early bed with a hot toddy with DH on night duty.

A 9 month old so much easier than a 2,3,4 year old
Just snuggle in bed together
Or stick in travel cot in your room with breadsticks & toys will you doze

Colds etc. - dose up on paracetamol etc., create a comfy space in the living room and don't do anything in the house but look after the baby. Cebeebies/DVDs are your friends. Hopefully your DC still has two longish naps a day - use the time to get some sleep yourself. Keep drinking, eat snacks if you can and get DP bring some food home if you want any. Feed DC easy, minimal prep food that you know they eat to make meals easy for you. Picnics on the living room floor can be useful.

D&V - thankfully I have only had one D&V illness during the week (but several on a weekend when DH is around anyway). DH worked from home that day, but I looked after the baby. TBH, it would have been better if he either had gone to work, or properly taken the day off so I could go back to bed.

If you do have a D&V type bug, be really hot on handwashing etc. If you are BF, make sure that you keep drinking as much as you can keep down. Rehydration salts can be used if BF to help keep you hydrated.

The main thing is to keep baby clean, dry, feed and amused and get yourself through the day. Everything else can wait.

We had a family flu ( with d and v ) for the last 2 weeks- not a happy or fun thing!
One of the days I was too ill to stand upright dh had to stay home. Another day my dad came and helped out ( this was not easy as he lives 2 hours away) as th kids were alsoill I found a few if the following helped

  • everyone regularly dosed on paracetamol or whatever ( I was much less grumpy when headache was under control, as we're the kids, this also kept temperatures under control) ( I m not normally an advocate of medication unless absolutely necessary in this case it was as we were all so I'll)
2 DVD s jigsaws painting music bath/ shower
  1. Child proof a room - make a safe space from them to play and crawl around then lie on the sofa/ bed while they play around
  2. Early bed times/ naps
5 short outing/ walk as soon as able
  1. War easy non fuss easy cook things -ginger honey abd lemon drink for you abd plenty of fluids for the kids
  2. Eggs/ fruit/ pasta/ soup all easy snacks
  3. Online shopping delivered to your door of possible
  4. Hang in there - it will pass.

Good ideas. I'm currently curled on sofa, dosed on paracetamol with an awful cold. Trying to contain my still not dressed/washed 1, 2 and 3 year old's. 1 of each! Doesn't help that the 1 and 3 year old's also have it Sad boo bloody hoo, hope it passes quickly as no one to help. Feeling very guilty already...need to think of easy things for entertainment to pass the day for them.

DVD's. One after the other! But then my DC are older than yours.
