Phil and Ted Question

Hello - I have a question about the Phil & Ted e3 which I'm really hoping someone can help with. At what age can a baby go into the front seat with a toddler in the seat at the back?

My DD is 14 weeks and is happy in the cocoon bit if she's asleep but hates it if she's awake - can't say that I blame her, the view's probably not that great! Any idea when I can move her into the front bit?

TIA

lol if baby hates it in the back then the toddler probably will too!

the toddler will be in a seat in the back and will be able to see the world - the problem is that in the cocoon DD is flat on her back and has a very restricted view

My understanding is that the younger sibling (that is the lighest) is in the back and the heaviest (the eldest) is in the front. I would think 14 weeks is too early to move - as isn't the 'baby' supposed to be sitting up or be at least 4-6 months?

Only my dd is in mine at the moment as dd2 isn't due until Sunday.

DD is probably about average in size and she has quite a strong neck so perhaps she could cope with it now.

how are you lockets? things have been a little hectic but would love to have a meet up.

I think we had dd in the front seat from about 4m and if she fell asleep we were able to recline it slightly by undoing the zips, without affecting DS in the back. HTH

RudyDudy · 25/01/2006 21:42

the toddler seat has written on it not to be used for a child under 6 months but I can't see DD lasting that long - apart from anything else I think she'll be too long for the cocoon!

DD is 4 months and still in the cocoon (she generally seems to fall asleep when we're using it).

You could take your DD out of the cocoon but still in the newborn part (that would give her more length, but not solve the boredom part)

can you not string something above it? on the back of the seat or something so she has something to look at/play with?

RudyDudy · 25/01/2006 21:47

thanks for all your answers - think we'll give it a go this weekend and she how she gets on.

Congratulations Lockets!!! - though obviously I think you must be mad!!!! I am enjoying 2 though still feel like I am finding my feet with it all - it is certainly a lot harder than one was!! Will text you to arrange something.

problem if you put little one in front and older one in back is that the pushchair is likely to tip due to weight imbalance. That is the huge & biggest drawback of this pushchair.

if you put a lighter child in front, or indeed get a child out of the front seat while there's a child behind, please be extremely careful. I have had laots of experience in this area.!

I even resorted to a bum bag weighted with stones tied to the foot plate. This was actually highly effective

thanks for the tip ernest.

I have a phils e3. I usually put my special needs 3 year old in the front and my 9 month old in the back toddler seat. Recently my 3 year old started having tantrums because she wanted to be in the back toddler seat and so I switched them. It worked out okay but I don't think I'm going to do it again after reading these posts!
