Does anyone use a Close wrap?

I had a moby with dd(3) but never really got on with it completely - I didn't like the faff.

I've had a look online at the Close ones which look very good. Any experiences? Dd will be either an old 3 or just 4 when baby comes in October and doesn't really use a buggy so I'm not bothering with a double, not for a 4 year old! So dd walking holding my hand, and baby in a sling I think I could cope with!

I used one with DS, and have it all washed and ready for no2. I really liked mine, especially because you can put it on and then take baby in and out quite easily with minor adjustment rather than having to re-tie it every time.

However it is still a "stretchy" wrap and as such by the time DS (huge) was about 4/5mo it wasn't brilliantly supportive. Also HOT in the summer. I think I will be switching to a mei tei much earlier with no.2 although the Close will be good for the first few snuggly months.

I used a close when we had DC2, DC1 was 3.3 when she was born. Found it really useful especially as DD wasn't keen on being put down so helped me do things like play with DS as Playgroup and make the tea.

A few friends have borrowed it and a one really didn't get on with it. Perhaps if there is a Slingmeet near to you, you could try before you buy Smile.

I have one! Got for ds3 as it looked v easy to put on. In fact I can walk from car to school, fastening it as I walk. Used it all the time everyday until 7months. Still have it but now have new ergo as present and love it.

I have a 5yr old and 3yr old and barely use the single buggy now.

Sounding good so far. Dd was a small baby and this one may be too. I've never heard of a wrap meet!

The thing I found with the moby, is that unless I'm just going for a walk in my village (no shops etc) then its a car trip. With the moby I didn't get on with getting the wrap put on before getting in the car I found it uncomfortable. I then wasn't able to mess with doing it all up standing by the car when I maybe only had to pop into a shop or wander around town. Does that make sense?

I found the Close very, very easy to put on. You literally pop it over your head and shove baby inside, with a bit of practice it won't take 30 secs.

I LOVED mine. When friends get pregnant now the one piece of advice I give is to buy a Close! DS napped in it till he was 6 months and it was so useful - we were in London and hardly used the pram at all as I was scared of taking it on the tube.

DS is extremely large Grin so it doesn't matter whether small or big!

It is very easy to put on.

Oh sorry just saw earlier post - my DS is 99.6th centile and I switched him at 5 months into a babyhawk oh snap. I love that too!

Oh FFS at 6 months

Vickity - It is a perfect wrap for putting on quickly from the car. Ideal.

I had a close but stopped using it as soon as DD woke up a bit more (now 11 weeks), because when she is in it and awake, she likes to look about. She has strong head control so will peer about and I nearly choked her as the close was cutting into her neck. I found I needed to use my hand to support her too.

I have now switched to a manduca (like an ergo) which is much better but a right faff when I need to stick DD into the sling after getting out of the car for example. The close is much easier and quicker in that respect.

I have an older dc too - close was good when DD was tiny though!

Mine was useful, but DS was getting too heavy for it by about 4.5-5 months (he was 99th centile though). It was also way too hot for using in warmer weather, so I bought a Connecta Solarweave for the spring / summer.

DH was reluctant to use the Close because of the long 'tails' of fabric. They did get in the way rather even when I used it.

The Manduca is a lovely carrier which works till toddlerhood so it's better value. The Ergo is good too, although it has a lower weight limit than the Manduca.

IME the Connecta is faster/easier to put on than either a Manduca or an Ergo if you're doing a front carry.
