Offered a place but no childcare

Okay, don't know where to start so I'll just ramble and hope one of you wonderful MNers knows what I mean

I went to local college open day and said I was in interested in Access to Nursing, all went well, so well they said I could to the diagnostic assessments there and then. That went really well, they were v. Impressed, had another chat and they offered me a conditional place (dependant on good refs) to start September (they also said that they never offer any places at the open day so I feel even more privileged)

Now the tricky bit, I am LP with 3 DCs, the oldest will be 4 in Sept, so won't even be in reception yet.

I don't have a clue where to start with childcare (maybe should post in childcare too)

Any advice at all?
Open day so I feel even more

does the college not have any childcare facilities?

Will the college fund childcare for you?

I've just been on their website, there was a number and I rang and left a VM so fingers crossed they call back.
Also they said they won't know until Sept what days or times, though they spread it over three days. I can hardly ring round and say have you three places in Sept but I don't know which days it will be.
I've got a horrible gut feeling its not going to work Sad

I know how you feel - sometimes just knowing where to start is a good place.

You will be fine and certainly not the only person who is studying with small children to look after, so they should be able to offer you help with this.

Congrats on getting on the course!

Thanks babyheave I feel quite overwhelmed now, I wasn't expecting to be offered a place there and then Blush

Major blonde moment, of course the college went to VM its bloody half term BlushBlushBlush

Have you considered doing an Access course through the DLC? I haven't done it myself but I know others who have done really well with them. You get to work from home at your own pace then so no need for childcare. Just check with your chosen uni before you sign up though, as I know some universities don't accept DLC qualifications.

Was it the Families Information Service (for your local area) that you rang? Here, apologies if you've already found this! They are v good at arranging emergency childcare.

with 3 it is sometimes cheaper per hour to get a nanny than to pay for 3 individual nursery places, but they're not ofstead registered so you can loose money that way

but just offering up the option for consideration, might be more flexible

also contact your local hospital's HR and ask for the name of the shift work nursery used by their staff, you can change your days with just a weeks notice at a shift work nursery, they're sometimes on the hospital grounds and may be useful for them to be settled there if you're doing placements there later?
