Little one is 19 months old and both myself dp have been at work today so my mum has had him. He was clingy to dp but settles quickly when he's gone mum says. I went to pick him up and he's clingy to mum. Came home refused his tea but that's another story, groan. Now wanting dp again, so he's bathing him. Another day it will bee he clings to and not want dp. Is this normal behaviour? He's going to nursery in a few weeks and worried about the separation as it is but even more worried about picking him up in case he dosnt want to come to us.

Thanks Jo x

Ahhhh Jo, he will always want to come to you.

This sounds totally normal to me, he is attached to you, your dp and your mum - that's a good thing. :-)

It is fine that he doesn't want to let go the person who is caring for him - but while you want him to bond with his nursery carers, and he will, it will never be a stronger bond than the one he has with you.

He will grow out of it in his own time, he is very young and very dependant still and for some time to come.

Just what you are doing is exactly right, patience, understanding and going with the flow. :-)
