DSD since starting her periods has gotten some spots when using soap (palmolive)? So I changed to Dove still no change except her skin got dryer! Still can't fgure that one out so am now trying natural, PH balanced and gylercin have resorted to Johnsons baby wipes and her skin has cleared up and no dryness

Do I keep using these or is there a suitable facial wipe for kiddy skin that is more grown up

I got my ds some clearasil wipes at this age. Hormones are rampant and soap dried the skin without stopping spots. Baby wipes are full of spot loving moisturiser!!

Get a facial cleansing bar.Wipes can be too much for sensitive skin.

Smurfy1 · 11/02/2012 02:03

never thought of clearisil, i just ussumed they would be too harse doh lol

I have tried various bars and they didnt help but surprisingly (and dont know how much is down to the harsher weather) but the baby wipes are working the spots are going away and no dry skin

Will buy some clearisil wipes, not a lover of soap myself

Simple do a range for teens here it might be suitable if your dd is hitting pubrty.

Smurfy1 · 26/02/2012 03:43

Well have tried the Simple range and clerisil and in total 6 times all marked as sensitive and each time her skin dries out and she gets! spots and dry patches that disappear when i tell you togo back to babywipes

Soap/ dove does the same thing dries her skin out grrrrrrr feel like giving up and sticking wi the baby wipes as they seem to be the ponly things working on a daily basis

Clinique soap and daily moisturiser! Don't use facial wipes they are terrible for skin.

StrawberrytallCAKE · 26/02/2012 04:28

clinique cleansers page you can also get free testers in boots/house of Fraser to see if it's suitable.

Smurfy1 · 26/02/2012 04:33

Thanks was thinking of giving up lol, I use wipes but then im old rofl at the time they were a brilliant way of making her feel more grown up and getting her to wash lol

Boots do a fragrance free range which is excellent and very good value. I would use their wipes and a light moisturiser after too, this will stop any dryness/sensitivity. I think they do a scrub too which is good once a week.

Soap is very harsh on skin, you can get facial washes, ones with teatree oil in them are good, just make sure it is non perfumed and watch out for if it has lanolin in it if she has sensitive skin, I do and I am really allergic to lanolin for some reason. After she washes her face and pats dry on clean hand towel she should use a light moisturiser I find the vichy aqualia thermal light one great.

Unless she wears makeup, washing her face with warm water and using a clean face cloth is better most days and then using the facial wash once or twice a week aswell.

I always used dove sensitive soap along with aqueous cream as a moisturiser. For me they were both cheap and effecive plus I would wash my face every morning and every night before bed inlcuding a nice thick application of moisturiser. My skin ended up being wonderful...then I got lazy :-(

If she doesn't want to use aqueous cream, double base is a good alternative especially for acne. Both creams come in quiet big tubs and are really reasonably priced from the chemist.

My dd (11) uses Nivea young skin range, it smells lovely to.

Hebiegebies · 26/02/2012 23:05

Wipes are great, but they must put moisturiser on too!

Smurfy1 · 27/02/2012 00:04

Thanks for the replies

LOL too young for makeup but I never knew Nivea did a young skin range will have to take a look in boots :-)

Is she complaining about using babywipes? If not, I'd stick to them if they work!

Smurfy1 · 27/02/2012 02:09

No she isn't and yes they are working

Think Im overthinking it tbh but there is that much going on I think im trying to solve things I can if that makes sense
