Routine for 5 month old?

We're (almost) on the other side of a massive move (house/country/continent). For the past few months DD2 (5 months) has had to fit in with the chaos of packing up the house, living with my parents for a month and then moving here.

I wasnt hugely bothered and was quite happy to go with the flow a bit, especially as she is a fairly good sleeper at night.

But now we're getting settled and I'm getting ready to start her on solids in the next couple of weeks. And I kind of feel that we need to be in a bit of a routine before that (and also for the sake of DD1 aged 4, and myself, trying out the SAHM thing for the next year or so)

Any suggestions on how to get a routine going, and also any ideas on what it should/could look like?

(as more background info: DD2 is EBF, DD1 may or may not be starting pre-school in the next few weeks and I'm hoping to get at least 5 minutes of silence during the day Grin)

Thanks!

Starting solids will sort it for you. Meal times can be fixed and everything else falls around that? So for example:

Wake 7am, BF
8am breakfast
9am nap
10am bf
11.30/12 lunch
12.30/1 nap
2.30/3 bf
3.30/4 nap
5 tea
6 bath
6.30 bf/bed

Obviously not set in stone and the feeds could be closer to naps. It a rough idea. As DD gets older you could replace the bf with snacks (which is what we did).

Ah ok, I hadn't thought of it that way. I kind of thought in my head that I'd need to have the structure in place to slot in the solid feeds, rather than letting the feeds create the structure.

Poor little thing, she goes mad pretending to chew every time she sees us eating, but we haven't been in any kind of place to start introducing solids yet. Grin

Hi
Just to say that my routine is pretty much the same as Iggly - except my DD doesn't have the second afternoon nap as she usually sleeps a bit longer after lunch.

I never had much of a routine until I started solids, and it fell into place once I decided to have set meal times. Now it works really well (been on it for about 5 weeks).

Good luck!
