sleeping in the bouncy chair...is this ok?

my three month old baby just started liking sleeping in the bouncy chair.

is this ok or is it bad for them? I know they are not meant to be in a car seat too long. but how long in the bouncy chair is ok?

(its a sling type-baby bjorn chair)

do they really have to be flat all day? also I have noticed a flat spot on head so I am trying to put her to the other side...

Fine for naps but not ok for night time sleep. If my baby hadn't have slept in the bouncy chair we would have had no day time naps at all for the first 6 months :)

Mine have both slept in their bouncy chairs - in fact my 18mo is asleep in his right now!

I think car seats are different in the positioning - I've never heard of bouncy chair sleeping being a bad thing.

Mine slept in one for naps both at home and at nursery for several months.

ok good. bouncy chair does seem a much better angle...than a car seat.

what about this flat head syndrome thing? is there anything I can do?

my ds slept in his bouncy chair for 9 months naps and at night. He had a hip splint on and couldn't lie flat in a cot or moses basket. If it wasnt for the bouncy chair he wouldn't have slept the health visitor and drboth said it was fine. Mind you we went through millions of batterys as it was the fisher price vibrating one lol.

My twins either sleep in chair or car seat night and day, they have reflux and always snuffly too. I got a insert pillow thing for car seat. Doctor and HV said ts fine and in tree words "do what u have too"

The flat head syndrome will sort itself out don't worrySmile

Babies heads are still so soft just now, once they are moving they're head a lot, especially through the night, it will become round againGrin

Sleeping in bouncy chair for naps is a godsend IMO

As everyone else said you've really got to use whatever works or you'll go mad! Not for night time sleep but fine for naps. We didn't have a bouncy chair but were given a rocking swing with twinkly coloured lights which was great. LO loved looking at the lights and the swinging motion always sent her to sleep after about 10 minutes. Her naps were only ever ahout 20-30 mins anyway in the first few weeks but it was really useful at mealtimes, as it meant she could be on the table in her rocking swing so could still see us (till she dozed off) and she would let us eat!

BTW, at three months, depending on sturdiness of your child's back and how well they hold their head/neck up, they can start to sit more upright (supported) anyway, although not for long periods. It's nice for them to be able to see more of what's going on. I put our pram/pushchair into a more upright position, although not fully upright, when LO was three months (pushchair has three settings; reclined, slightly reclined and fully upright) as LO was desperate to see out!

My DD was a terrible sleeper and would only nap in her bouncy chair. I remember posting a similar thing when she was around 12 weeks.
She also used to be up every hour or so in the night so sometimes in desperation I'd put her in the chair around 4am to get a final burst of sleep.
She's totally fine and her sleeping seemed to sort itself out around the 6-8 month mark. Don't worry and enjoy the times when she sleeps!
