The Sun £9.50 holidays, are they any good, or awful?

I was thinking about spending £15 PP and trying to book somewhere in Europe in the Summer holidays. Has anyone any experience of any particularly nice parks? I am worried that the accomodation will be dirty/horrible. Thinking about choosing the tent option over the mobile home option because at least then we can bring our own thermarest mats and sleeping bags.
Would love to hear peoples experiences. I went on one in the UK about 6 years ago and the mobile home was dirty and a bit horrible...we couldn't wait to get home!

We went on one in September a friend couldn't go as she'd forgotten her eldest was starting school Confused so we went instead - was a uk one, the caravan was clean and well equipt ect but the bed was THE most uncomfortable thing i've ever slept on, i was dreading bedtime and we came home two days early........

I've done a few in the uk which were ok. I've never had bad accomodation apart from Pontins. Wouldn't choose butlins and normally try for Haven which have been fine. Last year I managed to get a mobile home in Jura/Alp region of France and it was fab. I tried to book the following week whilst we were there but it was about £1000 Shock. This year I have managed to bag a week in June at a place between Naples and Rome which is 400m from the beach. We live fairly close to Rome so it will only be a 2 hours or so drive. I can't wait, all for the princely sum of £170 Smile. I would suggest looking on Trip Advisor at any of the sites you're interested in. Oh and er hurry up Smile

Could you give the names of the park from last year and the one you're staying at this year? 400 m from beach sounds great! All spaces probably gone now...

We've been on several ones in the UK and most of the time have had very clean and new caravans. The beds are uncomfortable but we always managed to put up with them. Twice we were put in a chalet and that was awful both times (not dirty but very un-homely). So now we only ever apply for parks that only have caravans on their site. Can't say anything about parks abroad though, sorry.

isn't most of the European accommodation actually provided by Eurocamp, Keycamp or perhaps Siblu? Certainly with the Daily Mail holidays offer, this is the case.

We had a great time at this campsite in the Jura last year, not far from the val de Bonnal campsite mentioned already above. It's called Domaine de Chalain. It has indoor and outdoor pools, it's beside a lake with beach, there's bike hire, a tree-level assault course (not sure what to call it in English), free children's/adult's activities (mainly in French but some English to cater for Dutch/British clientele) and our family did free archery, biathlon, kayaking. It's certainly not a campsite where you'd go to seek peace and quiet. We paid £30 a night for a tent with Vacansoleil for the last week of August, but you can get cheaper with the campsite's own little 5 person bungalows which this year are £26 a night at the end of August. So don't assume that a Sun holiday is the cheapest option even.
