We are trying to tighten our belts a little and have noticed Tesco sell Value nappies at £1.77 for 20. Has anyone actually tried them and are they any good?

haven't tried the value ones but tesco own brand are excellent IMO

Yes, tesco own brand are very good.

We used them when dd was dry during the day but would only poo in a nappy - they were OK for that but felt a bit rough inside so I don't know how comfortable they would be to wear over a longer period. The tapes were stiff and not flexible, so you might find the nappies less stretchy than you might like and the tapes might come open easier than with more expensive nappies.

At that price, though, why not buy a pack and see how you get on? It's got to be worth a try.

I think they're very plasticy unless they've changed.

try lidl about £5.49 for 50 size 4 they are pretty good too.

hiya, the tesco value ones have a plastic outer cover that was too scratchy for my lo. The Tescos own brand are really good, they've got a softer outer cover, and great durability - I would recommend them to anyone (who listens, lol)

They are very plastic on the outside and do scratch or rub the top of the childs leg in my experience. Asda sell packs for for £3.49 which i have used in the day time or Tesco's movers are very good.

i used the tesco value ones for ds2 when he was 3 and refusung to potty train out of laziness (he actually used to say i can't be botheres!!!)so i brought the cheapest nappies that i could find to make it more unconfortable for him and within a week he was using the toilet!

personally feel they are ok as an emergency or if you are on a very tight budget, but wouldn't want to use them as a long term option.

PeachyClair · 23/01/2006 21:20

Yes, we use them all the time . DS3 seems to be allergic to sme nappies but not these (isn't that always the case with the value stuff? What they don't put in saves them money and you allergies, in this house anyhow).

They need changing more often I guess- DS3 pulls his off regularly anyway (he's ready to train but has delayed speech and I think it would be a nightmare). But actually- if you're short on cash- they're fine.

tesco own brand nappies are rumoured to be made by huggies(can't for the life of me remember where i heard that) and they are great. I personally wouldn't touch the value ones, but its just my opinion

Tesco value are a bit plasticy on the outside. I regularly buy Tesco own brand and they are very good.
