Leaking nappies at night, can you get 'night nappies' or something?

Dd has been soaked through in the mornings recently, right through her sleeping bag! It doesn't bother her, but it does me obviously. I think it doesn't help that she often sleeps on her front, and when she wees there isn't as much absorbancy. We've tried not letting her drink too much after 6ish.

Is there such a thing as a night nappy?

no, but have you tried the next size up? or falling that put 2 nappies on

PaschaAndCustard · 24/01/2012 12:25

The best disposable we found for my son has been Nature Baby nappies. He horse-wee'd through every other brand on the market but never these.

Asda comfort fit nappies have always worked for us.

next size up worked for us.

Pampers baby dry in the next size up. Honestly, it works.

I think you just have to try lots of sizes and makes to find the best one for your DC and then give up

Seriously though, if you can't find an alternative that works, I did find some massive reusable nappies with plastic covers on, which you could put extra pads in. I never got round to buying them, but they could be worth a try as well. It never bothered DD1, so we found some marginally better nappies that reduced the frequency of leaks, and just put up with it for a year or so until she grew out of it.

Tee2072 · 24/01/2012 15:32

I've just asked the same question and the overwhelming response seems to be try reusables so that's what I am going to do, once they get here!

lowimpactmama · 24/01/2012 16:26

Would definitely recommend reusubles - tots bots bamboozles with a motherease airflow wrap work brilliantly for us. They take a few days to dry (you can wash them with your regular laundry, just go easy on the powder/liquid or get some bio D to add to your regular detergent) but we've never had problems with soaking through (and my son wees like a horse!). We also use bumgenius, just boosted with some bamboo inserts, which also work well.

PS you can pick up second hand nappies (that are washed and clean of course!) or you may be entitled to something like the Real Nappies for London voucher (if not in London your council may offer some sort of incentive) to help with the cost.

NinkyNonker · 24/01/2012 20:40

Right, I may have to dig out the reusables again! She used to use them, but then they started leaking...maybe I just need better ones. I was using the all in ones, might try some stuffable ones.

For now I've just bought some next size up to try so will see what happens tonight!

Thanks all.

Pampers worked for us. Cheaper brands for day time!

InvaderZim · 24/01/2012 22:25

Just seen that you own resusbles We use Bumgenius with one of the large inserts plus a large hemp insert. Works a treat and haven't had a leak since we started that.

LakeFlyPie · 24/01/2012 22:33

Aldi nappies are the only disposables which don't leak on DS2 overnight.

matana · 25/01/2012 19:29

Pampers Baby Dry here - i'm a big fan!

pinky27 · 25/01/2012 19:44

Pampers Baby dry are def the best one's - all others ( including huggies) aren't as good.

Iamjustthemilkmachine · 25/01/2012 21:52

huggies are utter rubish! reusables are much much better, or you could put a disposable and then a reusable's wrap on top! it works wonders.

Magicmayhem · 25/01/2012 23:11

I used to put a large square of cotton gauze in DS's nappy so it soaked through that before it soaked through his nappy... used to buy it from Boots and cut to size... worked every time, larger nappies just leaked more.. HTH

NinkyNonker · 26/01/2012 21:22

Night 3 of larger nappies...last two nights have been dry but she hasn't slept well, maybe cause of 4 more teeth appearing so maybe not a true test. Looking good so far though!
