Started with dd last week, she's 23 months, thought she was ready ( started to notice when she needed to wee etc..). Anyway we hav'nt had much luck so we have decided to wait a while then start again. Im sure there is no harm in trying.

my aunt potty trained my cousin when he was just over one! he used to "ask" to go and they never looked back, so as long as she is aware of when she is going then i think it is possible.
her health visitor told her he was too young and to put him back in nappies!!! lol

Both my DDs were toilet trained before 2. DD1 took about another year to be dry at night but DD2 was out of night nappies about a week after training during the day.

DD1 was 19-20 months and DD2 22 months. They both "got it" within a week apart from the very occasional accident.

All children are different though and DS has taken a lot longer. He was 2.5 before we started.

Is she showing signs of being ready apart from the pain? Poor DD

well there's no harm in giving it a go! if it doesn't work out then back to nappies... but it's always worth a try

i started potty training DD1 at 21 months and promptly abandonned as she wasn't ready. But one month later we tried again and she was potty perfect by 23 months. Having said that, she was months ahead of any others her age. I think you've just got to take the plunge, take the nappies off and encourage like mad (we used the old chocolate button system which i resisted like mad but eventually adopted it as it was so effective - just one at a time). We also had one of those muscial thrones around the house from the age of one - so she was well used to the idea of a potty from an early age. good luck and just go for it!!
