Milk from a cup

My 15 month old drinks water from a cup really well (free flow teat) has had a bit of fresh juice diluted in there on occasion and has had that fine too. Today I thought I'd finally try milk in her cup. She had one sip and wouldn't take more. We've been signing with her and she signed 'milk' 'drink' milk' 'drink' and when I asked if she wanted milk she said yes. I put it in a bottle and she drank the lot.

Any tips? Does it matter if she carries on having it in a bottle for a while?!

we gave DS his morning milk in a cup one day and he was upset at first but we sprinkled some out so he could see and taste it was the same and after a few mins when he realised he that that was the deal he just got on with it. Slight wobble on day two but fine after that and same a few months later with the evening milk. It helps to have a special cup that is only for milk not juice or water so they can identify it

Thankyou trixie . She saw that it was milk and tasted a bit, I told her and signed to her that it was milk but she didn't like it at all. She just had a bit and spat it out!

How much does it really matter at the moment do you think?!

So long as you're careful about bottle use (brush her teeth afterwards, don't let her fall asleep on it or have it in bed, don't let her wonder around with it in her mouth all the time etc) I don't think it matters that much. However, switching to cups is quite a good way to cut down on milk intake if they are having a lot from bottles.

Thanks RitaMorgan (I'm pretty sure you've answered me in this and similar in the past!)

She doesn't fall asleep on the bottle (very occasionally she will) To be honest her teeth are cleaned morning and night but both times it's before the bottle. She does not walk around with it in her mouth, hold it in her mouth, or have it in bed with her (I hate that!) she drinks it all down and is done with it!

She drinks 7-8oz morning and night at the moment. Is that too much now do you think?!

I would start brushing teeth after milk, but I'm quite careful about teeth. I think the recommendation is about 12oz of milk a day after 12 months, so might be worth reducing it a bit but she isn't having a ridiculous amount now or anything.
