Teething - calpol every night?

7mo DD is teething and we've been giving her calpol every night, usually just once but sometimes twice, for about two week now. I'm not sure if this is ok or too much, I feel bad giving it every day but I think she needs it. I did try not giving it a couple of days ago but she was so miserable and crying all evening. The second of the two teeth is nearly through so we should have a break for a while, but then there's all the rest to come...

If you are sure she needs it then give it. My daughter has certainly had phases often days or so of having it daily, she really suffers with her teeth. As long as youare giving it as pain relief and not as a precaution then it's ok.

Have you tried teething powders? Or anbesol liquid? I find they help. They are more short term, but can help.

My only concern would be is that once these 2 teeth come through the next 2 will come and so on.

I've tried Dentinox and others the same but it doesn't seem to help. Might give Anbesol a go, I'd forgotten about that since DD1. I'll try the chemists tomorrow.

Dartfordmummy - yes that's my concern too, that it will be endless Calpol until all her teeth are through.

It's awful though I know. I've given dd ibuprofen the last two nights, she's taking this teething malarky much worse than the boys did (and they weren't easy at all). God help all of us when the big teeth start coming through, I think I'll book myself a long holiday Grin.
I found Ashton and parson teething powders helped more than the others. I'm struggling to find any at the minute though.

Hope things improve Smile.

My DD (14 months) has molars coming through that have been making her pretty miserable, I asked the pharmacist and he said babies feel more pain in the night when there's nothing to distract them, and not to be afraid to give Calpol as a first port of call, rather than a last resort. The correct dosage will do no harm.
She's been having Calpol before bed for about a week, without it she is unsettled until the early hours.
We have clear runs of several weeks in between teeth coming through when I can tell she's not suffering and can stop giving it, I wouldn't worry about it being never ending. in our case it was the first two and the molars caused the most problems, the rest came down relatively smoothly.
