Hi, i am potty training dd 17 months.

At home she goes bare bottom and shes good on the potty. She couldnt say wee or toliet so i just sit her on the potty every so often.

Sometimes i feel so tired and at home end up putting her in a nappy! I knwo i shouldnt but i often feel worn out and cant chase her round to make sure she is going in the potty.

ALso she wears a nappy when we are out so this is obviusly confusing. I bought a portable potty but its hard to use it when your out, getting lo in and out of the buggy etc.

I guess i just need any advise on this. SHould i keep her bare bottom at home and keep the process going??

Thankyou

if you think DD is ready stick at it but 17 months is quite young IMO - the longer you wait the quicker anbd easier the whole process is supposed to be. One of they markers they say you should wait for is when you child can tell you that she needs to go. I have just reached this stage with DS and he is 29 months. Whatever you decide good luck!

From what I've read on here most people say don't even try potty training until they are 2 because they don't have no concept of needing to go and can't express it anyway.

My DD is 18 mo and I'm not even thinking about getting a potty til the summer aslthough knowing my DD she will refuse to sit on it and will use the toilet we use.

I'm sure someone else will be along whos been through it and give you better advice.

Its good to get her used to sitting on the potty etc - but I think she sounds like she's too young just now to get it properly. You're just adding extra pressure to yourself by trying to get her to do it. Relax and wait till summer when she's a bit older. My ds is 22 mo and is sort of getting to the stage of saying pee pee or poo - just after he's done it!

She the thing is, although she cant say wee/poo yet she will pull the potty to me and drag it along to me if im not in the same room and thats her sign for wanting to go. I do feel shes ready because of this.

I wish it was summer to make things easier, i think i may still keep going as i think its what she wants to do and see how it goes,

thanks
