She has literally eaten no solid food in the last 2 days, and much less than normal in the 2 days before that. She still has 3 bottles a day but has only taken half of her usual in the last 48 hours so I'm a bit concerned about dehydration. She'll sit in her chair at mealtimes and play with food, but ends up windscreen wipering it all to the floor and clamps her mouth shut at first sight of a spoon. Not interested in water either. She usually eats very well - not huge amounts as she's pretty small, but 3 good meals a day.

She's got a horrid cough but seems well in herself other than that - only other difference is that she's slept a lot; normally has 2 x 1 hour nap or sometimes only one hour per day but in the last couple of days she's slept 3-4 hours through the day and all night as well.

I'm trying not to worry but I do wish she'd eat something - does anyone have any wise words? Should I take her to the doctors, or would that just be a waste of time?

Oh and she coughed so much in bed 2 nights ago that she puked, and got herself in a bit of a state - could this be related do you think?

She might be feeling a bit poorly and off her food if she's got a cough, it could be a slight cold. My DS is almost 1 and just now he is really bothered with teething, which means he's eating less. He's not very red-cheeked but it's teeth further back so it's harder to spot! I'm sure that's what's affecting his eating. Could it be her teeth?

She's probably due another tooth but it's never affected her like this before, usually it's just one grizzly day and it pops through, she's only got 5 so we're not onto the back ones yet.

I would take her to the docs, my dd was the same a few weeks ago and it turned out to be tonsillitis and she needed antibiotics. Might just be teeth but I would go anyway, and make sure they look down her throat, first doc didn't for some reason and said just a cough/ cold then ended up having to go again to emergency doc a few days later when her temperature went through the roof.

Can you get regular sips of dioralyte into her? This will keep her hydrated at least?
My son is now 11 months and is becoming REALLY picky with his food and often won't eat, so frustrating but I think it's a phase where he is starting to learn what he likes and what he doesn't and is exercising his newly discovered ability to decide whether to eat or not! Little monkeys!
