Advice on bottle to cup transition

Hi- I've recently successfully transitioned my 14 month old from bottles to cups. Trouble is, as an 'interim' if you like, I'm using cups with a soft spout. Obviously I know I should start using a hard spout (or straw? She uses a straw cup during the day and doidy cup at teatime), but which hard spout cup to use???

I guess I have to put my hands up and say that it's the bedtime milk I'm worried about as she finishes this off in her cot usually, and the hard spout ones will just go everywhere! I will have to get her in the habit of drinking her milk before bed and brushing her teeth before the cot.

Anyhow- any cup suggestions? There's just so many!!

Thanks

we used a cup from sainsburys that was black and white, sort of a cow pattern and it didn't spill unless he really shook it about. The little basic Tommee Tippee ones aren't bad either. We used to let him drink it on one of our laps while having a story, then he sits on the loo seat for teeth brush and then bed. He also now uses a blue and orange one with a flip lid over the spout and that NEVER spills so is good for the changing bag. Think it was Boots. Hope that helps

Another vote for Sainsburys cow cup (handleless no spill one). It was the only way I could get D'S to drink milk out of anything other than a bottle and I was worried about sheets and carpets too.

I think the hard ones go everywhere if they are free-flow i.e. no valve. You should really be moving to milk then teeth before bed as the milk has sugars in it so it is better to brush it off before bed. That said the best we can get our 15mo DD to do is a quick chew on the brush Xmas Blush.

Hi again- can I just ask, is it this one? www.mysupermarket.co.uk/sainsburys-price-comparison/Baby_Feeding/Amadeus_Healthy_Eating_Udderly_Brilliant_250ml_Cow_Cup_6mths.html

We use this one www.amazon.co.uk/Healthy-Eating-5031438020006-Amadeus-Big/dp/B002OL1QHE

But I'm sure the other one is fine also.

oh, the blue and orange one is sainsburys as well. It doesn't spill due to the white valve inside. Without that, liquid goes everywhere - as I have now discovered having lost the white bit!

Tommee Tippee do some great free flow cups with a flip up spout. They are really cheap.

However, please don't send your child to bed with a bottle or cup of milk since this will rot their teeth. They should have no milk after brushing. Only water if thirsty, and shouldn't really need even that at night.

Also, my health visitor said that the cups with valves in increase the likelihood of ear infections, so wouldn't recommend those.

DS took months and months to go from bottle to cup, so don't worry if it takes a while!
