advice re authorised leave coz of dd

I need some advice please. Ive namechanged but regular, well, not recently, but have been regular for many many years.

I need to take two days off, coz i have no one to leave dd with. Its not about a few hours, but me going to another part of the country, which is where im at uni. Her df wont be back till two days after term starts and there isnt anyone i can leave her with. I cant take her with me, coz then she misses a week of school or i miss a further couple of days to bring her back. Ive discussed it with all concerned, including my academic tutor and they are all fine with me not coming back to uni till her df is back in the country.

yet the admin lady wont authorise the leave. I submitted the request on tuesday, yet she waited until i was safely away from there, and back in london to reply. Its not a simple childcare issue. its two full days in which the child will have neither parent with her. ive got an exemplary attendance record, except for the time when she decided after the fact to unatuhorise my reasonable absence. (missed train, then train delays, after trip home to see kids, and my not spending a fortune on the expensive hundred pound plus ticket, the tutor was fine with it)

does anyone know if there are any equal oppurtunity type things i can call upon to back me up here? Ive jumped through all the hoops she wanted me to after the last fiasco, yet is now saying this isnt appropriate. Im at a loss as to how to react to this in a professional way. advice much appreciated.

Can you possibly get your tutor to speak to the admin lady to advise that he/she is aware of your circumstances and is perfectly happy for you to take the leave?

Otherwise ask her if they will fund an authorised childminder? Or say you'll have to bring DD with you and will need a written explanation from them to give to her school as to why she is not there? Realise this may come across as a bit sarcastic but that's not what I was getting at, I thought it might put her in the picture a bit more.

Surely the ultimate approval must come from your tutor/head of year? We have several people on my course who have had to defer work and the ultimate ok on that comes from the tutor not admin...

It seems to be slightly skewed here. She seems to be the one authorising it.

Im just so terrified of this and its the last thing i need just before christmas. but the previous time i disagreed, she gave me a negative on the spot professionalism judgement. which goes on my record.
ive called the acadeic tutor, as well as emailed him, but got the answering machine, so had to leave a message.
