I have a 2 yr old and a 5 wk old and a Phil and Teds Vibe. I bought it 2nd hand and have no instructions but have looked up on the internet how to use it and think I am doing things right. My problem is when I have my son laying in the main seat with my dd sat in seat on top it seems to me ds is in the dark all the time and its v difficult to get to him! I have to take dd out of her seat, unclip it and leave it on the floor to get to him then put it all back together again. Is this right? Anyone got experience or advice which would be useful please, before I buy another buggy. Thanks

There is a cocoon you can get which makes it a lot easier to get the baby in and out. It is like a holdall bag with handles so you can slide it in and our after you have put the baby in all cosy. Yes it is pretty dark and difficult to get to the baby otherwise. But when they get bigger and sit up with the doubles kit seat behind it will be easier to get them in and out. Hope that helps .

Thanks for advice, watched the demo and that is how I've been using it so at least I'm doing it right. I don't have the cocoon as heard that babies grow out of them quickly and my little one is already pretty big but I will look into it. Do you then slide the baby in and out of the back of the buggy rather than take the seat off?

Hi, I used a phil and teds when my children were a similar age. We had the cocoon, which made it less fiddly to get the baby in and out but to get the baby in without the cocoon you have to hold the baby along your forearms with their feet by your hands and kind of put your arms in the gap from the back then set the baby down. If you are using the cocoon you put it in from the back as well, no need to take off the front seat.

I see where you are coming from with the dark thing but personally I felt that the baby was all wrapped up, no sun in her eyes, she seemed to like the rocking motion of it and I loved the fact that I could see her sweet little face. I had a side by side double too which was front facing so I couldn't see her and it was heavy to push whereas I could push the P&T one handed.

I took a look at the video posted above, I wouldn't be putting the baby in this way as like you say, would need to take off the toddler seat, put the baby in from the back, more like this vid

I'd try and get a second hand cocoon - if any of your friends have a Phil and Teds maybe they have one that is grown out of. You don't need to take the toddler seat off then although there is still a bit of a knack to it - I slide it in before my toddler sits in the front and often have to push the seat up a bit from underneath. My 16lb boy is still OK in the cocoon at 3 months and I know a couple of average sized girl babies who were in it at 5-6 months so it would probably see you through winter at least.
