Vomiting with bronchiolitis - how long does it last?

10mo DD has bronchiolitis. Her temperature?s come down and she?s fine in herself so I?ve sent her into nursery just for a few hours today; I didn?t want her to forget the place as she?s only been going for a little while. Unfortunately though she?s puked her lunch up and they?ve asked us to get her picked up as obviously their concern is that it?s vomiting bug which will spread. Having looked up bronchiolitis on the NHS website I now realise that it?s one of the later symptoms, so is all part of the same thing.

My question is, does anyone know or have experience of how long the vomiting phase might last? I need to try and make possible preparations for if she can?t go to nursery on Monday! And if she is still puking, do you think nursery would accept her, given that we?re fairly certain it?s not a proper vomiting bug, rather a sort of ?by-product? of the chest infection?

Very new to all of this as it?s my first week back at work, so would be grateful of any insight!

Hope someone comes along to answer - but just wanted to say that my DS2 had bronchiolitis at 10mo (quite poorly for a few days, but no overnight hospital stay). I don't remember any vomiting - but it is worth reading about after effects (as you have done) as we found that he quite easily got wheezy with colds for about the next 9 months.

No lasting effects now though (nealry 3 yo).

Bronchiolitis can be very nasty - would have thought that nursery may be worried about spreading virus causing that rather than D&V?? (Caveat - not sure about infectious periods etc)

Well, I know you didn't ask this but if you can keep her off on monday I would, more just to give her a chance to recover than anything else. Am surprised nursery accepted her but I don't know much about bronc to be honest.

Poor you, typical that its in your firat week back at work!

If she is still under the weather please keep her home. For a start bronchi in contagious so you don't want to risk giving it to others.

DS has had it 4 times and only had vomiting with it the first time (which was by far the most serious leading to a 10 day hospital stay) which was caused by his stomach being to full for him to breath so natural instinct was to throw up IYSWIM. Subsequent time we went for the little and often approach to feeding which was much better.

Hope she feel sbetter soon
