What to buy 2 year old Godson for Christmas?

The thread on first Christmas was so helpful I'm starting another. What it says in the title really. Something ideally lasting (but for him rather than posterity), costing £30 ish, for 2.5 yo godson. Any ideas? Thank you.

Personalised christening scroll holder?
We had one for our DS..it had the name of the church..date & godparents names. It really is lovely.
I think personalised items are very special.

Wooden train set brio or the like, my 2 children still love playing with it. Or whole me men set

yes, you could definitely start him on a Brio habit, although he's a bit little yet to set up his own track - will need some adult input but that shouldn't be a problem Wink

doesn't have to be actual Brio, there are lots of imitations which get you more for your money

I mind a 2 year old, and he spotted this www.amazon.co.uk/VTech-64803-Red-Playtime-Bus/dp/B0009HBOGI in Boots recently, he was so enamoured and when we were leaving he informed me we would be "coming back to see that one again" :o I've tipped off his mum!

My 2 year old is very much into cars, brio, jigsaws, building towers. Her Christmas list includes megablox, playdough, a new car garage and some brio.

It's worth asking the parents if there is anything he's particularly into or that they'd rather you not get. (for example we have chosen to buy DD brio for xmas so have asked others not to get any and also not to get books and teddies as we're already knee deep in them)

Thank you everyone for your suggestions. Lots to think about. His Mum thinks he'd like a wooden tool kit!! But I love the bus...
