How old was your DC when you stopped feeding in the middle of the night?

Just wondered really.

DS is 8 weeks old, fully formula fed, and currently has around 3oz anytime between 2am and 3am (dreamfeed is at 10pm). This feed has been getting gradually smaller - and last night he only had 2oz - his usual daytime feed is 5/6oz. I'm thinking of reducing it gradually myself to see what happens - am really hoping he stops waking up for it soon as I have a toddler too and am knackered!!

(also posting on breast/bottle feeding board btw, but thought there might be more traffic here)

Thanks

Angeldog is right- night feeds were gone (bar odd incident) from about 11 weeks. Night waking oth was going on fairly regularly (a few times a week at least) probably til dd was nearly 2.

bruffin · 27/11/2011 14:49

10/11pm to 7am

both dc from 12 weeks

naturalbaby · 27/11/2011 15:02

dc3 9 1/2months. there have been a few nights where he slept through but between growth spurts, starting to roll/crawl and be more active in the day none of my babies dropped night feeds properly till weaning was fully established and they were eating a lot of solids during the day.

13 months (although will sometimes get a feed if ill or teething - now at 15 months). Still sometimes wakes in the night, not hungry though

girliefriend · 27/11/2011 20:07

dd was bf and at about 6mo I made a decision not to feed her between 10pm and 5am (if she woke she could have water).

exoticfruits · 28/11/2011 09:21

Same here girliefriend but about 9months. It was when I found DS1 was getting me out of bed just for a comfort thing, a few sucks and he was off to sleep again. I went for a quick head pat and drink of water and it worked the same.

waitingfornaru · 28/11/2011 11:53

DS2 is now age 2.5, he stl wakes in the night once or twice, but has stopped wanting a feed since I have been taking him into bed with me.

NellyTheElephant · 28/11/2011 12:09

My 3 all breast fed, went through the night without wakes or feeds (i.e. approx 7 to 7) from 8, 10 and 12 weeks respectively

OhCobblers · 29/11/2011 18:49

Mine were mixed fed via the bottle and DC1 went 7-7pm at 13 weeks and DC2 at 11 weeks.

However, they were both exactly 7 weeks old when they dropped their middle of the night feed. We were dream feeding them at 10.30pm though and it was that feed that was dropped at the ages mentioned above.

Matildathebrave · 01/12/2011 12:12

Wow, I'm totally amazed by some of your replies! My DS was 3 when he dropped his night feed and DD was 2.

Thought this was fairly normal? Perhaps not!

InmaculadaConcepcion · 01/12/2011 13:51

That probably is well within the range of normal if the LOs are left to themselves, Matilda!

kenobi · 01/12/2011 13:53

12 months, but we had to make her. She didn't need it anymore from about 6-9 months.

kenobi · 01/12/2011 13:53

Before anyone asks, 'making' was reducing and watering down until it wasn't worth her while anymore Grin

kenobi · 01/12/2011 13:56

And like PPs have said, no feeding doesn't mean she doesn't wake in the night... sigh.

cantpooinpeace · 01/12/2011 13:57

DD 10 months, DS 6 months :)

daveywarbeck · 01/12/2011 13:57

Both EBF - DD was about 10 weeks, DS was 20 months. I weaned him off the breast at that point due to absolute exhaustion and a realisation that he never was actually going to give up the breast of his own accord.

blackteaplease · 01/12/2011 13:58

dd is 23 months and gets a feed at 5am to make her go back to sleep until the rest of the household are ready to get up. She still wakes in the night at other times but I send DH in.

QueenOfFlamingEverything · 01/12/2011 13:59

DS is 16mo and usually wakes for a feed just before I go to bed (around 11). He had been waking again at 3/4 for ages but in the last few weeks he has slept through about half the time so it looks like that feed is on the way out now.

Seeyouentea · 01/12/2011 13:59

12 months or round about, turned a year and magically morphed from a baby who woke every 30min to one who slept 7-7.30 solid. Nearly overnight change.

How I praised God.

butterflyexperience · 01/12/2011 21:50

My dd2 is 18 months and still wakes for bf twice a night!
