So have started DS 2.2yrs on potty training today. I think he has been ready for a couple of months as he would wee on potty when he was bare bummed but was pregnant so didnt want to/never had energy to follow through with it. So now with a nearly 3wk old DD I have started DS off..so what do I do...lol He has been in underpants all afternoon so far and has used the potty when he has felt the need for a wee. Only thing is I am not sure if he knows when he is pooing yet!

Hi Nemo, we started on Thursday too! DD1 is 2.3 and I have a dd2 who is 5 months.
Day 1 we had one accident (first thing, but after two sits on the potty with nothing) then 9 wees and two poos on the potty - which is a miracle considering dd normally only poos once in a blue moon.
Then yesterday 11 wees on potty and no accidents, in pants for half the day (but lots of prompting from me).
Then today decided not to prompt so much so had an accident this morning, but otherwise Ok. Went to the park briefly this pm (took a porta potty but thought she would be OK as had just gone, but had an accident) Then after about a hundred more visits to the loo, another poo! (She seems very concerned about having a poo accident). Funnily enough she has asked to use the toilet mostly today, which has thrown me, but very useful.
How is your ds doing? Can't beleive you are doing it with 3 wk old - is she sleeping a lot in the day? My poor dd2 just gets dropped whenever dd1 wants the potty, feeding or not!

jiminy we arent doing too badly here..i dont think. Although havent braved being in pants out the house yet.
Thurs we had no accidents
friday we had one
saturday we had about 3 but i was prompting less
today none so far.thinking about braving pants to go to parents in law for tea.

only thing that is annoying with ds is that he insists on standing up like daddy to pee but his aim is not very good so have a huge plastic mat under the potty at the minute..lol

However we are as yet to have a poo on the potty. He has pooped once but waited until he got a nappy on to go to bed.

poor DD2 just getting thrown when the potty is called for..lol It is easier to potty train at the min with DD being 3wks as she sleeps most of the time or is easy to carry one handed while dealing with ds.

Keep it up Nemo! Yes take ds to his granparents in pants. You shouldn't go backwards if you can possibly avoid it (although I must admit I was always popping mine back into nappies for journeys, shopping trips etc).

If he wants to wee standing up but his aim isn't too good, could you hold the potty up to him?

Also, don't worry about dropping dd the minute ds needs a wee. This sort of treatment is what makes second or subsequent children less demanding all round!

Today is going ok, I'm not prompting as much, but she hasn't asked to go yet without a lot of hinting from me! No accidents. having a friend plus baby over for lunch tomorrow and then will see about going out a bit later in the week. Did you see on house of Tiny Tearaways putting a ping pong ball in the loo to perfect boy's aim? Hope the in-laws goes OK
