Right, how many words have you done?

keynesian · 20/11/2011 09:03

How are you getting on katy?

Red2011 · 20/11/2011 13:27

Why not go back through what you have written and bullet point the things that are important (in a new document).
Then you can expand on them in turn.

Do you need to write an intro and conclusion too? If so, you might want to jot a few lines for each.

Last assignment I got stuck on I had a whole bunch of information that didn't seem to 'gel' although most was relevant. I wrote it out in paragraphs then printed off the page. Then I cut the page up into strips, one per paragraph, then laid them out in different arrangements 'til they made more sense.
It only took a little 'tweaking' after that.....

Hope that is of some help.

I am meant to be writing around 2000 words today too!

KatyMac · 20/11/2011 21:23

Didn't do too well as I had to take DD out (just the odd 2hr journey to collect her, then 5 hrs up north yesterday. All day today at a comp then 5 hrs home, just got home)

So I'll start again tomorrow.

I guess the main problem is I don't really understand why I failed it or the feedback but I'm going to answer a different question rather than rehash what I have (I think)

Thanks

Are you proud of me? (I have been working on it since Monday Hmm)

OP posts:
purepurple · 26/11/2011 10:31

Very proud Grin
I have loads of work to do too. I have just started my dissertation on the benefits of risky play.
Can you not ask your tutor for some more detailed feedback? It's a bit pants that the fedback was so vague

KatyMac · 26/11/2011 10:38

Well I failed in feb/mar so I doubt she remembers it Blush

OP posts:
KatyMac · 26/11/2011 10:43

What are you writing?

OP posts:
purepurple · 26/11/2011 10:48

I have just started my top up to BA in early childhood studies and have to do a 9000 word dissertation. I have decided to do it on how risky play is preceived by parents and practitioners. I have a questionnaire to write and also my intoduction and methodology to do for next week. I have a few refelctive accounts to write for my portfolio as well.
I have just had my first asignment marked and was really pleased to get 71%.
I am feeling the pressure, so am rebelling a bit by mumsnetting instead Grin

KatyMac · 26/11/2011 10:51

I did a big thing a while back on perceived risk - do you want me to see if I can find it?

OP posts:
purepurple · 26/11/2011 10:55

oh yes please Grin
But you need to write some more words first. Get to 1000, then you'll be half way there

KatyMac · 26/11/2011 11:13

I can't find it - oh poop; sorry

OP posts:
purepurple · 26/11/2011 11:38

Thanks for looking anyway.

KatyMac · 26/11/2011 12:03

Starting to get a plan together for the next bit

SauvignonBlanche · 27/11/2011 18:20

Good going!
NOW GET OFF MN AND GET ON WITH IT! Grin

AlwaysWild · 27/11/2011 18:21

If you're not sure on the feedback, do ask. I'm sure she won't remember but she'll be able to cast an eye over and remember

KatyMac · 27/11/2011 18:35

My mum is sat over me watching me do it (I am 43 you know!!!)

Sandseter 2007 :

There is a growing debate on the balance between making sure our children are safe versus letting the children play in physically and emotionally stimulating and challenging environments. The focus is now on children's right to do risky play. There are no studies categorising risky play. The present study has aimed to do this. Qualitative observations of 38 children and semi‐structured interviews with 8 children and 7 employees from two Norwegian preschools gave 6 categories of risky play: 1) Play with great heights; 2) Play with high speed; 3) Play with harmful tools; 4) Play near dangerous elements; 5) Rough‐and‐tumble play; and 6) Play where the children can ?disappear?/get lost. The reliability of the analysed categories was tested through a second opinion made by an experienced preschool teacher, who has long and varied experience with children's play in preschools.

Is that any help, or did you already have it? I used it in my exam in October Grin.
