Sorry people, i'm new to this mumsnet thing and didn't know where this should go!

Daughter, age three, has for about a year now had serious aversion to other's poo (including dogs and cats) Shock . It begun when a friend changed her baby's nappy in the same room as DD - she retched and vomited everywhere. It has since happened again several times.

We recently got a cat and i have to clean out the litter tray every time he goes, as she cannot be anywhere near the smell.

Today, we went out walking with a friend and her dog, and the dog had a poo and she was literally throwing up everything and hasen't eaten all day :(

I don't know what i can do about it. Please help! Has anyone had similar problems?

My dc3 is also 3, and she retches every time I change her sisters dirty nappy, and is instantly sick if any other household member is sick, even though she is not unwell herself.

When dc3 was potty training, dc4 would also retch if a pooh was done in the potty, even if she could not physically see it. She was less than one.

My boys aren't like it at all!

I dont know whether i should take her to the GP, or even if they would be able to do anything :(

I think you should take her. If you don't try you won't know.

I think I would also be tempted to carry something strong smelling with me ( like Vicks) or.... I don't know, an orange slightly random I know but basically something she can sniff to cover the smell and hopefully prevent the vomiting. Good luc.

My DS(6) vomits at all sorts of things - smell of poo, crushed snails, porridge on the floor. He's MUCH better now than he was when he was 3.

Things like poo can make me vomit and retch, and I'm 28!

My 6 year old DS stepped on a slug the other day and I vomited in te road Blush some of us just have a more delicate stomach than others.......

My DD does this ... we've found distraction and some Karvol to sniff makes things a bit better, and she's learned to leave the area of anything that's making her gag. I'm just careful not to change her sister's nappy in the same room as her, avoid areas where poo is likely etc. Her reaction to her own poo has got better over time, thank goodness.
All I can say, OP, is that I sympathise. Smile

My ds retched when I change his own dirty nappy.
He is 2.2.
Am hoping to potty train him soon, not sure how that will go with his aversion to pooh

i think it's just maybe that she has a keen sense of smell?

i have, at times, had to hold my breath to wipe my own kids bottoms. and have also had to go out of the room, breathe a bit and then return!

the smell of any other poo/vomit makes me retch, although thankfully I can generally hold it in! nice eh? Grin

having something smelly for her to use is a good idea tho
