Probably going to get done to death but I'm at a loss. DS will be 9 months at christmas. Obviously I want to get him some lovely presents but I don't want to go over board.

I was thinking some little instruments and some stackable toys? My mums getting him a walker and probably loads of other things.

If there's anything you found your 9 month old loved that would be great.

Thanks!

My DS will be 8 months at Xmas and we have bought him some nice wooden toys (shape sorter/puzzles ) have also bought happyland toys all second hand.

Ball pool. My DD has loved hers since she was 6months. She's now 10 months and loves sitting in it throwing and kicking the balls!

You could make a treasure basket or you can buy them online. All you need is a nice wicker basket or even a nice gift box would do and fill it with everyday items; pumice stone, different types of brushs, squares of materials with different textures etc, pine cones, large shells, sponge, metal milk jug, wooden spoon, little bags of pot pourri.
The point is to have lots of different things for your child to explore with minimal adult interaction (let them explore n their own way only intervene when they do something dangerous) and to move away from plastic all singing and dancing toys children are normally surrounded by.

Daisy's idea is quite good, babies love heuristic play, it's quite beneficial to their learning too. I think DS would be over the moon if I filled a basket of empty crisp and baby wipe packets! They are the one thing he tries to snatch off me when I'm holding them.

I though am going for the conventional type of present and getting him a smart trike. They grow with your child and are for 10month to 4 years. So will definitely last a few years.

Just want to say I put together a little treasure basket and I can't believe how much he loves it! His favourite its banging the metal spoon and hair brush together. Really is amazing watching him pick through and play with what he wants. Such a good idea! Babies are always way more interested in weird things than the stuff you want them to play with!

I find it helpful to have two little treasure baskets, one for the kitchen for when Im cooking and another in the bathroom for when Im having a bath etc they seem to keep them far more entertained with them than normal toys.
