DD1 is 2.5 and showing lots of signs - she tells us after she's done a poo, for example, wants to follow me into the loo, flush the toilet, etc.

How do we start?

Should I change her to training pants?

We have one of those seats to put on the loo to accommodate her.

Help us neophytes!

I've just trained dd. I left the potty within her reach and periodically asked her if she wanted to use it. In the morning before she wees in her nappy I would put her on the toilet. Never bothered with training pants or the like.

Personally (am sure some would disagree!) but never used pull-ups/training pants etc - waste of time and money. Put straight into normal knickers (if you leave bare bottomed you will have to take a step back again when you move to knickers). Keep potty nearby all the time and just keep putting her on it. Lots of praise when she does something in it. Completely ignore all accidents. DONT give food treats when she succeeds. A friend of mine did this and had a complete nightmare cos then her DS wouldn't use potty unless he had a sweet!

We're using a sticker chart - every 10 stickers is a 'present' which he can choose when we go to the shops. He also loves the stickers - they're a treat in themselves.
