Stopped using cloth, scared to start again!

I stopped using cloth nappies when I started to get morning sickness as even the wet ones have quite a pungent smell that was making me sick.

My morning sickness is now much better, but I'm scared of using them again. DS is 13m but does really big, soft poos that are squashed all over his nappy, and I'm worried about how I'm going to get the poo off them. I know I managed before, but now I just can't seem to think about it.

Do paper liners generally work? I use fleece normally, but I don't even want to clean those.

I used cloth up until a few months ago when Ds turned 2. I never got on with paper liners but for the last year I was using fleece liners but I bought an ikea fleece blanket for £2 and but it into shaped liners that fitted my nappies exactly.

If it was particularly dirty nappy I just used to throw the liner away, especially if we were out and about. I got at least 100 liners out of a £2 blanket!

Nappies are still nice and white ready for the new baby!

i love the flushable biodegrable liners (onelife) as you can just peel the whole lot off with poo and dump down the loo. you can get them from kiddicare and they are lovely and soft
Completely sympathise though - 19 wks now and no sign of nausea going. There have been been some grim days crawling around the floor gagging doing nappies....

Sorry to hear that Magnum. I must admit that for the last 14 weeks (and still now) if there's someone else available to change a dirty one I ask them to. This morning's was particularly foul so you have lots of sympathy from me!

moojie - I have to make a trip to ikea so I'll grab a blanket when I go.

I think I might put in paper when I'm expecting DS to poo (unless he hates it) and then if one of my fleece ones does get covered I'll just bin it. I have quite a lot of them anyway, and if I buy a blanket I can make more.

Thanks :)

Now if only he'd not be such a heavy wetter...

I get you - ds was pretty much out of nappies when I got morning sickness but I made the mistake of feeding neighbour's cat and cat food made me gag and then the bloody animal farted in my face when I gave it the food - luckily made it to the sink to be sick!

I always used paper liners (Imse Vimse from Babykind were best), as they survived about 10 washes if the nappy was just wet, so I reused them, and if there was poo it was straight down the toilet. I only ever used fleece liners for extra absorbance as if I'm washing poo I might as well just have the nappy?

I suppose another option is feeding dc a bit less fruit and seeing if the poo firms up? :) I had opposite problem of trying to avoid constipation constantly, which was magically resolved when ds learnt to use the potty!
