Put DS (2 1/2) in pants yesterday for the first time and it went really, really well. He stayed dry for the first 3 hours - mainly because he asked to go to the toilet every 5-10 minutes but hey, I"m not complaining! Had a few accidents after that adn then we put a nappy back on after his bath. Pants on again this morning so wish us luck!

Good luck!

Done forget this is a very 'exciting' time so expect miracles when hes surrounded by presents and new toys!

Ds has given all his nappies to santa - he was sad to see the cloth ones go, I think that's because he realises that the shops sell dispies so presumes I will get more.

He solemnly put them under the tree before bed and they have now been replaced by presents.

Hey, it's worth a try. It's supposed to work with dummies.

that sounds great, only it wouldn't work for us - Santa doesn't come to our house! We celebrate Hannukah, not Christmas, so although there's still presents involved there's no one to "give" his nappies to. Also, although he has an older sibling and knows lots of older children he's the first of his friends to try so no one else to set an example yet.

Still, I think he's ready. He's been willing and able to use the toilet successfully for a few months now it's just a case of getting him out of nappies and learning to tell us when he needs to go. I had a long struggle with dd but I have a gut feeling he'll be easier. I'm excited but still nervous. A bit of PTSD from dd's experience I think. But he's a totally different child and I'm trying not to let that influence how I do this with him.

The only thing I'm not sure of is, we're having a small family party here tomorrow afternoon. So do we keep the pants on for the party and just deal with any accidents or go for pull-ups for a couple of hours?

I'm not a good person to ask, I will stick Bob in a pull up at the least excuse so I can leave the house! Note Santa has only taken his nappies.
