Stealing Food

I have read a number of posts about stealing food!

I find it so hard to work out how can anyone class taking food if they are hungry as stealing?

In our house there is always lots of snack food, crisps, soups, cans of beans, fruit. I would be upset of someone took the stuff I but aside for dinner for example but class it as stealing, no way!

Taking something without permission is technically stealing. It's just a word. What word would you use? No-one's suggesting it comes with a prison sentence or anything.

Ok. FWIW, I agree with cogito. I wouldn't get my knickers in a twist if my DD ate something, although I would if it was just before she ate her dinner. She has an appetite the size of a mouse though.
