Placebo for calpol?

I know this sounds ridiculous, but has anyone invented a pink sticky placebo? My DD loves the stuff not that we give it v often, and I am convinced that its the ritual rather than the substance itself, and want to test my cunning theory.

Seriously? All these parents pretending that their dcs are having 'medicine' when all they have to do is feign pain? Mixing up special ingredients, storing in special pots!!

Just say NO!

My dd2 does this. Unless I know for sure she isn't faking, she gets her little heat bag warmed up & cuddles & lots of attention. I don't like the idea of pretending to give drugs to a child demanding them, just for an easy life!

Mousey don't discount growing pains - they can be real. It's called a diganosis of elimination, i.e. if they can't find anything else there, then the pain is probably due to rapid growth

Agree! I used to suffer from the terribly, but my mother didn't believe me & sent me back to bed, where I would cry myself to sleep. Again, dd1 suffers & uses her heat bag, which works wonders for her.

Our hottie bottie worked double time for a while. I added essential oil drops too, nice and relaxing. I think you are probably right about the ritual, and you might well prove your theory but I'd be wary about using a medicine like substitute on any sort of regular basis.

With the growing pains ended up taking ours to the chiropractor for tgat and a few other issues, mine is autistic with a limited diet and they suggested they may not be getting enough colegen to produce enough cartridges growth when thier bones are growing, we have started them on a liquid marine colegen supplement and it has improved things a lot.

I see this is an old thread that has been resurrected. But I can't believe so many people aren't giving their children real painkillers for growing pains. All this fannying about with fake potions while your child is in pain?
