At what age do you stop using a sound and movement monitor?

Our LO is now 11 months, so theoretically is out of the risk range for SIDS. However I'm a bit paranoid and won't stop using the sound and movement monitor. I like the reassurance it gives me when I can hear the tick of her moving. I think I will probably end up using it until she moves into a big bed!

Is anyone else like this? Or if not, what age did you stop using yours?

I turned the motion sensor off last week - he is 21 months!

But in my defence he has a lot of chest problems which caused me to be a bit paranoid!

Ours is still on at 13 months and tbh I don't think we need it. He doesn't have little weakling newborn lungs anymore - when he's having a scream I think the whole street hears it!

At 19mo when DD came along though I'm sure DS would have been on it a lot longer if she hadn't been around..

Mine are 6 and 4 years old and I still use sound monitor! How do you hear them without one?

Have never had one. I was always able to hear ds if he wanted me

when we moved from old house which has big solid walls and DS's bedroom was miles from living room to newer house with thin walls and his bedroom directly above living room. He was 11 months.

If you can here them scream/shout you don't need one imo.

Still use sound monitors for our two (5 & 3yrs) but only in the living room as big house with thick walls means we can't hear them if they need us when we're downstairs in the evenings. Plus we've brainwashed trained them so well they won't leave their bedrooms to find us if they have a problem so we need to be able to hear them shout.

Never had one - I could always hear the DCs.

I think whenever you're comfortable is the right answer.

I think we stopped the movement part with DD1 when she was a bit over a year. We had the sound on until she was in her own bed and we knew she could confidently come to us if she felt unwell or scared or whatever.
