Loving these posts!

My friend from work gave us a potty (!!!!!!). What shocked me most was that its label said 4+ months - now that is wishful thinking. Another shocking truth is that she is a paediatric nurse!

I got a hideous White knitted snowsuit. It looked like one of those lace doily things old ladies put over the arms of the settee. It wasn't even lined so wouldn't have kept anything warm, surely the point of a snowsuit?

Even more bizarre I only got one when I had twins.

A bottle of bio-oil! Some of my friends said they would have been offended but I actually appreciated it as I did get stretch marks and its quite expensive to buy :)

I didnt receive any strange gifts for my Son though, thankfully lol! Although his never worn the fleece sleepsuit with pink bunnies on which was bought for him...

Crikey- no joke- A pigs leg. Yup. If we'd had a giant slicing machine we could have had some nice Italian prociutto ham. So there it was, in our fridge. 'What do we do with this'? Does a baby eat ham I ask you? WHY a pig's leg? Fortunately the italian deli it came from let us exchange it for a copper pot & some olive oil etc. Not much there to choose for the baby.

Woodlands - we got a terramundi jar as well, I thought it was lovely! I think the idea is to use it to save for all of their childhood - not smash it open when you need a couple of quid for the car park as I do with his other money box Blush

And agree with all the bibs - we had hundreds! DS rarely used one, and tbh with DD we never even tried. She's probabyl had one on 10 times in her life, and they'll have all been MIL.

Why would anyone give baby formula? Unless they knew what brand you had chosen surely anyone would think - oh well that might not be the one they're using. Not only that but what an odd gift - it's the kind of thing you'd take if the new parents ask you to pick some up on the way to visit!

My lovely aunt, who is dd3s Godmother, went on holiday when dd3 was a few weeks old. She brought home a plate with dd3s name on it - it's a feckin' ashtray with the phrase "Smoke here ....." on it Grin

a mars bar...

A big roll of cotton wool. Never used it. Ditto the large tin of baby powder.

Got asked what brand of formula I was using as they would buy some as it's so expensive. I breastfed for 12 months.

Newborn bibs, hundreds of them. Maybe it's just me but I had no need for bibs til he started solids.

The shittest present EVER was a Christmas present when I was 7 months pregnant. Wine and very syrupy chocolates. I am also diabetic. Hmm

I didn't really get any odd baby gifts for my 2 DDs.

I did give my sister a drum for her DD when she was born. She had given my DD1 a drum set for Christmas one year (full mini set with bass drum, seat, cymbals and everything) which made a right racket until it was unfortunately broken by one of DD's friends. (Shame!)
I told her that as soon as she had a child of her own I would be returning the favour. It did bring a smile to her face when she opened the small drum and drumstick while still on the maternity ward.

A Russian doll. Not a set of Russian dolls, just one single, lonely Russian doll. Apparently the other ones were given to other people as gifts. Also all of the freebies a Germany lady we don't know could find by trawling around the shops in her town. This was a really lovely gesture, but my German isn't up to a Pampers brochure in German.
