The workload on E214 is pretty hard-going to be honest. Some heavy reading. That said, I've enjoyed it but some others have really struggled. A lot of theories and concepts to grapple with. I think it's important to point out that it is very theoretical and social-sciencey and it isn't a practical how-to sort of guide to the classroom.
The TMAs are all quite different.
TMA01 is a write up of two different pieces of material of your choosing and how they come from different perspectives (so, for example, medical model vs social model of disability). You need to submit the material you use as an appendix.
TMA02 is a bit of a creative writing exercise and you can either write a blog, an email conversation etc from four scenarios that they provide. The idea being that you can look at things from different viewpoints.
TMA03 is unmarked, but is compulsory to pass the course. It is a proforma of an interview that you will undertake for TMA05.
TMA04 is choosing your own five criteria that you would consider important to a setting being inclusive. You use a range of DVD case studies for this.
TMA05 is an interview with a person with a different view of inclusion to yourself and consolidating all the the theories/concepts learned thus far.
TMA06 is a standard essay about the importance of one person to change the notion of inclusion.
EMA is a write up of some audio discussion material provided, which to be frank, I haven't really looked at so far, so I can't give you any more information about it at the moment.
Does that help? What course are you doing this October?
