sorry i dont know how to spell diarrhoar (?)
dd is 14 months old - last sunday nigth she was sick a lot and that continued for 48 hours - took her to the doctors and they said it was probably something to do with the cold she had just had.
since then she has completely gone off her food - she has refused everything we have given her (except fromage frias and her routine morning and bedtime bottle of cows milk) she hardly drinks anything anyway but has still been drinking a little.
then on thursday her poo went really runny like it used to be before she was on solids so i just thought it was as she had only been drinking milk - now she has got diarrhoear (since friday) she is ok in herself, but bit wingy but i put that down to teething - its just the fact she wont eat anything and im not sure what to do - i think i will take her to the doctors tomorrow but in the mean time should i give her milk at mealtimes instead of food? it took me ages to get her down to 2 bottles so i am scared of her getting used to them agian, but obvioulsy i need to do whats best for her right now - any ideas thanks?!

Sounds like a rotavirus type bug which starts as vomiting and develops into diaorrhea(sp?).tbh I'd avoid milk for 24hrs as it can aggravate it. Offer dry toast, banana, rice or carrot if she is hungry and as much clear fluid as she will take - Dioralyte from the chemist helps provide a balance of salts and sugars or even a very weak squash. Try a straw for novelty value to encourage her to drink although she may be a bit too young. Also probiotics, which you can apaprnetly get in a children's powder form from health shops, or in adult live yoghurts will help restore the good bacteria to her gut and can apparently reduce the duration of diaorrhea attacks.

Hope she feels better soon.
