She is 6, she wants the 3 wheel one as she used to have the mini-micro scooter so she loves the way it scoots.
She was getting people calling her a 'baby' at school b/c of 3 wheels on her mini micro she already owns.
The Maxi -Mini scooter arrived from John Lewis and because it has to take extra weight (It says its for ages 6 to 12!) it is bigger and chunkier and heavier too then her old mini micro. I am worried she is going to get bullied for having a three wheel scooter and we should send it back and get the 'Sprite' one instead. She says she doesn't care what the other kids say and she should be able to choose what she wants. She did look worried when she saw the size of the new one though.
My biggest concern is her getting bullied for it. My DH thinks we're sending the wrong message to her b choosing a scooter based on what her friends think.
Anybody own the maxi-mini scooter? has your little one been bullied for it looking 'babyish?'

we had a similar dilema. I wanted 3 wheeler as safer as dd does all kinds of tricks on it. SOld to to dd when told her you cant cruise like a skateboard on 2 wheeler. She absolutely loves is and as a result when her friends moved up they all got 3 wheelers .She likes to do jumps and uses like a skateboard. She cant wait until she can get the joy stick and scooter one handed.

I also like it as she likes to scooter to shops etc. A 2 wheeler always has to be held up but this can be freestanding. A minor point but a stres free one imo.

No issues from other children about being babyish as I think it fits a different purpose. You can do more tricks so does not look young. Would have let dd have 2 wheeler if she really wanted it though. I would let her choose.

thank you for replying gracebf, after i read your reply it gave me the confidence to keep it for my DD as it was the one she chose and really really wanted. I should have just listened to her in the first place, i was just super paranoid about her being bullied, I should have been glad that she doesn't care what the other kids say. Thank you! Smile she rode it to and from school today and loved every minute!

Just adding, lots of bigger kids at our school have 3 wheelers, it's the most common option here. I think most of the 2 wheel scooters I've seen in use are cheaper brand ones, so probably bought for that reason alone.

My DD is 5 and on 3 wheel mini micro, it disappeared for a few days (taken by wrong child at school, luckily it turned up again). had we not got it back I would def had bought the bigger 3 wheeler, they're so zoomy.

BoosMaw thank you for your reply, it made me know i definately made the right choice! I think you're, several mums have told me they just pick the cheapest one. I am very happy with choosing the maxi-micro now, just wished I hadn't been silly in the first place and tried to go against what my DD wanted just so she would 'fit it' more :/
Thank you for taking the time to reply! xxx

we have decided to purchase my daughter who was 5 in May this year a Micro Scooter. Its says that Mini Micro are from 3-5 years & Maxi 6-12 years. I am all ready to order the Maxi(as it will grow with dd) but just wanted
to check if anybody had any thoughts on this. Sorry to jump on the threadSmile

We have the mini maxi. One child said something about it being a three-wheeler, but most of the children love it. I would definitely keep it. DD has loved it, and it feels safe.

EHM, I bought my 4 year old a mini-micro last year and wondered the same thing. Saw a couple of 4 year olds on the maxi version the week after - it did look too big for them to manage. if your daughter is 5 and a bit, it might be okay - depends how tall she is really and how adept.

Thanks SwashSmile
