Have you ever drastically altered your parenting techniques as a direct result from something you've read here???

Just occured to me on the smacking thread as we're all "fighting" our own little corner, with 0% chance of anyone shifting as to whether you've ever read something on here and as a result of that have changed the way you've done things as a parent??

I don't mean where you'd been wondering how you could do things differently, and someone on here helped. But rather you're quite set in your ways, with no intention of changing, then you read a thread and as the debate continues you've changed your mind???

yes I do sometimes look at situtations differently because of hearing so many different experiences on mumsnet.

I have used Soupies pasta jar idea with great success - thanks Soups

I wouldn't say my parenting has changed much - however, my tolerance and understanding of other parents has increased dramatically

However, I still have the odd blind spot and the 'other' thread is one of them

PASTA JAR!
No more pointless threats. Thanks to MN we now punish and reward with pasta!

Have been given odd looks when I tell DD that if she continues the bad behaviour I will have to take a piece of pasta away. The onlooker is always amazed that this threat stops the bad behaviour.

Maybe not my style of parenting, but Mumsnetters' opinions and practices had been an excellent source of reference that has helped us deal with DS's allergies. If there had not been for some mumsnetters here I would still be going around with my nut allergic child with nor even piriton in my bag.

Like lots of you have said my outlook on life and other peoples children has really changed. I was one of those "tut tutters" before.

The one thing I have changed is their diet. They still eat rubbish sometimes but I can't remember when I last had chicken nuggets in the freezer let alone when they ate them.
Ds1+2 both love garlic chicken kievs and I when they ask for them, all that processed, mashed up chicken....yukkkk!

Anyone got a recpie for homemade chicken kievs?

Yes...we shout less and dont smack.

We use a behaviour chart (which is more Supernanny than MN)

I have found an NHS dentist because of MN (which I am delighted about!)

we will be using the pasta jar as ds gets older.
