Back in nappies after 4.5 months!

I'm absolutely gutted as we've perservered so long but it got to the stage over the weekend where she had no success at all and 6/7 accidents per day. On Sunday after the fifth wet pants we cracked and put her in a nappy (had warned her that this would happen). She's only 2.2 but she did know what she was doing (ie on hols for four days had no accidents and asked to go to the toilet all the time - didn't need reminding).

Has anyone else gone back to nappies after this long? Also, v. nervous now about toilet training again as don't want to fail again!

sounds like she isn't ready for it ?

Why don't you leave her in nappies & try again in a couple of months ?

i started my DD when she was 2.4 yrs& she took to it like a duck to water. Did try just as she was turning 2 & she wasn't interested.

Also friends Dd would tell mummy wee wee at around 2, but is still in nappies now. (same age as my DD)

I'm going to keep her in nappies at least for a few weeks but maybe longer. Don't want to use disposables for too long as they're expensive(we have gone to disposables as always used washables before but they are sooo bulky once you get used to a small bottom - also, all the pants are worn out). I'm hoping she'll remember and start asking for the toilet - wishful thinking maybe? She seems to be totally happy in a nappy, although, worryingly she called her disposable nappy 'pants' this evening!

perhaps the reason she was asking was because she didn't like feeling wet in the washables ?

Can you put her back in those - I would rather than get her use to disposables.

Good luck !

I'm considering getting a couple of pairs of the pants off e-bay or something (never used it before!) so she has a better nappy at night too. Just need to get the smaller nappies out the loft as they're a bit more compact!

Unbelievably, when I went to get her from nursery today she told me she wanted pants on, then the nursery staff said she'd gone to the loo with them when they took the others and had three wees on the toilet which is more than she's done in ages!!

I'm really hoping she'll continue to ask for pants etc and maybe she'll choose when to come out of nappies again.

Hi Dollybird, how is DD ? did you get more nappies ? have you thought about getting some of those terry towelling rubber pants ? I have some, but my DD hated them.Might work for your DD though as she was used to wearing washables.

Hi Mojomummy,

I got some motherease wraps from Waitrose (on NannyL's advice!) and they're great! So, DD is back in washables full-time and I feel better about going back to nappies short-term.

She carried on going to the toilet at nursery on Weds, and on Thurs when we were out she asked to go to the toilet! She hasn't been at home though (that was always her problem area anyway - she just seems to be lazy at home), but she is going hours without weeing, so we're only using about four nappies a day including nights. I'm probably going to leave her until after Christmas now - too much else going on between now and then!
