Can anybody help me out with my domestic violence questionnaire?

Here i am again, struggling.

Im doing a research topic on domestic violence and the role of the health professional

the questions are based around victims of DV and if various health pro's ( gp's, midwives etc) have offered any help or assistance, but ive hit a brick wall, mainly because my brain has turned to mush and i cant think how to word my q's properly.

its so bloody hard, can anybody with brains help me with a few good questions to ask?

why do i always pick hard subjects to do???

Can you start by telling me a little bit about the dv you experienced?

How long had the DV gone on for before you sought help?

Did any health professionals realise you were subject to DV before you sought help?

If so what prompted them to raise the possibility of DV with you?

What response did you give them when they raised the issue with you?

When you finally sought help for DV, who did you approach?

Did you consider approaching any health professionals?

If so, why - if not why not?

If you did, did they take your situation seriously?

What advice did they give you?

Did you feel able to take their advice?

What other support was offered?

Do you feel your decision to seek help from a health professional was hte right one in hind sight?

etc etc

Just a quick rush of ideas!!!!!

Soapbox's questions are really good. Would just add would be worth asking which health profs - doc, nurse, HV, other - and why, and if more than one, which was more helpful.

my last three q's have been.

q- which of following have you discussed your situation with
ie gp, midwife, HV, Comm psychiatric nurse, practice nurse, a&e staff

Q if you discussed situation with more than one, which one did you find most supportive/informative?

then im struggling, because im aware how sensitive the issue is, but need a few q's obviously in order to do research on it.

looking at if health pro has offered any help/referrals etc, but because im not very 'articulate' i sound like a 15 yr old doing a school project.

I think it is just the old wood and trees conundrum Emma

Sometime it is easier to do these kind of things without too much detail of the subject - otherwise you just end up with too much information and be unable to work out what is important and what is not!

Edam is right as well, you need to compare and contrast between teh various varieties of health professionals.

I think you are right, I have read so many books and articles that i have 'too much' info now and its drowning me. Thanks for your suggestions though.
