Making a garden pond toddler-safe

We have a small garden pond, and a toddling 15 month old - not a good combination. Does anyone have any views on the best way of making the pond safe (short of filling it in.) My oh reckons there's a type of steel mesh you can get that will take an adult's weight, but also has holes big enough to allow frogs etc in and out. We're having trouble sourcing this though.

Would be grateful for any safety tips.

Thanks

There is a company that make them but we contacted thema few times & got no response.
Dh built a frame in the end with mesh over but it's slightly raised to let frogs underneath. It was easy for our pond though as it's tiny & rectangle. A fancyshape one may be harder.

yes wish my problem was that simple have a 200 metre stream/burn cascading down our garden where it is accessible from path/driveway small walls/fences elsewhere have to rely on undergrowth nettles and brambles to deter and very very strict rules, it is not possible to accidentally fall in as running too fast and cant stop but if you were determined to scramble down and in you could mostly very little water but as it has rained for 2 weeks solid here it is a torrent just now

try a builders metrchants for the steel mesh about 6cm squares they use when pouring concrete will easily support a toddlers weight also get a few prickly plants and get a very stern voice that is only used very occasionally that stops them in tracks makes DD cry but better crying than badly hurt as opposed to bumped knees
