Sorry but I swear some mornings I can not stand my children!

First there's my normally gorgeous, cuddly DS(8) who has to be told 17 times to get dressed then when I finally raise my voice looks at me with his big brown eyes and says 'but I didn't know'! He's been up since 7 and somehow by a quarter to 8 has still done nothing. He then has 20 minutes to get dressed, do his teeth, make his bed & eat breakfast and somehow despite having been up for ages by 8:10 we are all literally shouting and hysterical trying to get out the door to catch the school bus. And every time this happens I tell him that from now on he should get dressed as soon as he gets up instead of faffing around for 45 minutes doing nothing. And he nods and agrees adn then promptly forgets.

Meanwhile DD(10) who at least manages to get herself dressed without comment finds new and creative ways to pick a fight with me 3 mornings out of 5. This morning I hear her standing outside DS' bedroom door (I'm just next door) asking to come in. He says no, she says 'but I"m stronger than you i can jsut open the door'. There's lots of knocking and banging which goes on for several minutes until i tell her to just go away and leave him alone. She then looks me in the eyes adn says 'I wasn't even trying to go in his room'!!!!! Shock Then she acts all afronted and innocent when I get cross with her as if she can't possibly imagine what she's done wrong and it's all my fault.

Seriously, I can not stand this. I breath a sigh of relief when they finally get on the school bus and am serisouly shocked at myself at how pleased I am to see the back of them for a few hours.

Tell me about it. Friday is music group day which dd (3) loves. We were already running late and I must have told her 20 times to eat some breakfast or we're not going otherwise I get a chorus of "I'm hungry" all through it. No notice taken so we're too late to go now. And she's screaming because she wants to go. Tough tits.

You're lucky, at least yours leave the house eventally Wink

I feel your pain.

DD2 is the loveliest girl, but she's just so dopey. She'd been up 20 minutes this morning and done nothing. Not dressed, no breakfast, nothing washed or brushed. If you ask her to do anything she just stands there, looking confused. Eventually I start shouting, so then she stands there looking hurt. She lost her school tie and a shoe on tuesday. DS found the tie today. No idea where her shoe is. In her room somewhere. She's having to wear her gym pumps till it turns up.

DD1 is up at the crack of dawn and ready in minutes. For this I am grateful. She goes to high school in September and the bus goes about 7.30.

DS can be like one or the other. Today he got up and ready no problems, yesterday I almost sent him to school in his pyjamas!

Thanks Gwendoline you made me laugh Smile - you're right, the fact that they leave the house is a blessing & by the time they come home again I can usually remember that they are (mostly) nice, loveable kids! Not had a good day but DS is trying to cheer me up.
