hi there, i have bought a large piece of fleece to make liners, so couple question if I may..

If you make your own, do you have a pattern and a sz you stick to or just cut how you think?

Do I need toprewash fleece?

thank you

I don't bother to prewash. I laid out a nappy and just looked roughly how long/wide a liner ought to be and then just get cutting. They all come out slightly different sizes but it doesn't matter, they are only going to get pooped on after all!

The main reason for prewashing nappies to increase their absorbency so you don't need to prewash fleece liners. But as general rule, you should prewash anything that has come out of a factory before putting it next to your baby's bum IMO.

I prewashed the piece of fleece before I started cutting it (but I always wash anything new for DD before first wear).

I had a few "bought" fleece liners, and used those as a template to copy, but am a bit rubbish at cutting/got bored, so there are all different shapes and sizes in the stash!

I am going to have a go at this too. Just wondering what kind of fleece would be suitable - would one of the cheap fleece blankets from Ikea do the job? Or would it need to be something a bit thicker?

I just guessed for cutting. I have a few different sizes as I used terry squares so they were folded differently depending on age, I liked haivng the right size liner so that it wasn't hanging out of the sides. I have tiny little ones for a newborn and great big toddler size ones that keep the whole bum covered.

I used anti pill fleece as it doesnt go bobbly when you wash it with the nappies. Doesnt matter about thickness for liners so thin ones are fine :)

I just measured the booster/inside of nappy and made mine a bit thinner and shorter. Some of them are a bit 'off' or a bit wonky but it really doesnt matter lol

Mine ended up a sort of 'hourglass' shape so they didn't bunch between the legs. Made them the length of the average booster.
