Can I attend the meeting with my child

Hello all, I am looking for some advice, legal or moral whatever you wish.
My son is 12 yrs old and plays ice hockey they were at a tournament at the weekend and to cut a long story short, things kicked off between some of the boys and their coach, its been brewing all season (thankfully my son was not involved) however I witnessed first hand the coach swearing at the boys and singalling out one boy for a special sweary description of how bad a player he was.
4 boys have been suspended (unfairly in my opinion) and there is to be a players meeting with the coach at training this week, the parents are not allowed to attend. the boys range from 12 to 14.
My question is can I be prevented from attending to support my son and is this something that is written in a law anywhere?
I dont think he will come to any harm but I am not happy at the way this guy swears and addresses the kids.

I don't think they can stop you attending if your son is of an age where an advocate would need to be present to explain what is going on to them - what if the coach is abusive again or punishes them in a way which is totally unreasonable.

ANybody who told me that I was not allowed to accompany my child to somehting like this would be told exactley where to get off.
