ds is putting his hand in his nappy, changing the angle of his penis and therefore leaking all over his sheets and pyjamas. this is happening everynight. it accompanies him having got into a habit of getting us in several times both when he goes to bed and in the middle of the night (following on from us having moved house and fireworks....soo easy to get into a habit and so hard to break). so we are trying to be v firm about doing goodnight kisses, cuddles and lullaby (after normal routine of bath and reading time) and then not going in again....he has a proper temper tantrum that is lasting ages.

i don't think it's beyond the realms of possiblity that he's actually doing the leaking thing semi on purpose as he knows this will get us into the room.

we are losing our minds through lack of sleep and any help with the leaking thing would be really really appreciated: he's in pullups...would putting him in active fit help? any other tips?

heeeeelp!

Can you get him an all-in-one sleepsuit thingie so he can't get his hands down his nappy? Mothercare do them up to about age 4.

ahhhhh wigwam! could call...could try that yes....he is v dextrous tho, wouldn't put it past him to be able to undo the buttons....definitely worth a try tho thank you!

Have you tried the sleeping bags? Pretty difficult to get his hands inside (probably not impossible though) and if you combine it with a vest and all in one (you can get some that do up the back, I seem to remember - they tend to be French, so try Vertbaudet or Petit Bateau?) he might not manage to get in. Never could work out how you change their nappies in those myself, but maybe that's just me

Just looked and La Redoute have some that do up the back too. Petit Bateau can be ridiculously expensive, I seem to remember, but there is (or used to be) one at the Bicester Village outlet place, if you're within reach of it.

thanks all.

cod, he's just turned two...and he is using the potty for wees sometimes and poos occasionally...i just don't want to push it now, as i think he isn't quite ready (can't pull his own pushups down, although he was unzipping his grobag which is why we put him in a duvet!).

will try all in one.

am really worried that in trying to break the cycle of no sleep, we are causing ourselves more problems....he was clingy for the first time today going to nursery (2 hours twice a week) which he started last week....very depressed about all this tbh...

I am about to stop using pull ups at night for my DD. She has been potty trained for a while (is 2.3) but leaks at night if she is in pull ups, I don't think they are absorbent (sp) enough for night time use, so will buy nappies next time.

The also don't seem to be a snug fit around the legs either, not like nappies that you can tighten.

Electrical tape around the waistband of the nappy.

madmarchhare · 11/11/2005 14:52

or a vest with the fastening underneath?
