I love the Museum of London. Your DC are just about the right ages for it. I would highly recommend the medieval section especially the bit where you can listen to the pronunciation of old english and middle english.

But the Science Museum has the Difference Engine so it is a dilemma.

Definitely science museum and natural history museum, especially the free shows at the science museum (ask starting times at the information desk in the museum, simply brilliant).

we went to london last year and absolutly loved the museums especially the national history museum, they have a huge display right at the back with a look into the different decades, ranging from 1920s to now, dd loved seeing how time has changed and my even my partner found it facsinating, had to chuckle wen he asked wat the huge gas mask was for, he obviously meant the ww2 baby gas mask lol have fun if u get chance to go xx

Is the museum of London the one near the Barbican? - I went there a few years ago and thought it was fascinating, I think your children would love it. (I liked all the old pianos Smile)

The Museum of London is fabulous. One of the best in London.
Take them on a London Walk around the area as well...

MoL is great and much much less crowded than the big Kensington museums which, although fabulous, I find almost intolerable in the school holidays.

MoL also has an indoor area for eating picnics so you don't have to spend a fortune on food and drinks.

I agree - the MoL is great. Eclectic and interesting. My kids used to love the roman houses and playing at making food (if its still there). Nice garden and indoor lunch area (unless school using it in term time).
