Sorry, I'm not much help, but do you have a learning support service at your college/uni? I always refer students to our LSS for this sort of thing - they're usually the experts at this sort of thing.

My literature review was grounded in education but I will try and explain as best as I can. I looked at how adults help children to learn and had the following sections.

Firstly, an introduction briefly explaining theory to date and signposting the rest of the essay. I then developed an argument around 2 themes, how children influence this help and the effect of culture and relationships on this help. However, both of these 'mingled' My conclusion then assertes what research needed to be done-and what research I was going to do.

A good tip is to try and avoid a chronological report, i.e. 'a' said this but 'b' thought this and later 'c' did this, and instead organise around a theme. I found a good plan essential and spent a lot of time on this, but then the actual writing was fairly short. Work back from your conclusion- work this out first (if you know it!) and do the intro. last. It can sometimes seem weird to work this way but if you are word processing you can always change later.

Good luck, I'm sure it will be fine.

Of course, I proof read my review- unlike my post!!!!

Intro should be your objectives, what points are you making? What do you hope to achieve? Then you lay down your argument as orderly as you can, if you make a point, try to back it up with evidence. Refer to case studies and conclusions that back up your argument. Ending should be summary of everything you have said and whether or not you have achieved your objectives set out in the introduction.

Footnotes should be comprehensive and accurate and you should have a Bibliography so don't forget to take a note of every source you use.
